As we all know this whole blockb situation has gotten too much out of hand. To be honest this is why I dislike the fact that most Koreans hold too much pride in their heritage(country). Just for the sake of a fucking perfect image of their country they would kill people who mistakenly so called…
So I know we are trying to bring the happy back on the Block B dash but I need to get this out. Since this entire incident has occurred, I have just quietly watched and inwardly fumed but as I DISLIKE confrontation or any form of war, I just kept my mouth shut. After seeing how far this has escalated, there is no freaking way I can just let this slide.
I live in Korea and I knew what kind of place this was before I came here. Correction. I THOUGHT I knew what kind of place this was but at this point, I’m not so sure. After seeing what Tablo went through last year, I thought, “wow Korea has some crazy netizens” and that was the end of my thought process regarding that whole deal. Regarding Big Bang’s issues, I payed no attention because I’m sorry to say, I never really cared for Big Bang.
When Block B debuted, I was still in America and I LOVED THEM from their first song.I moved to Korea a couple of months ago and have pretty much stayed away from the Kpop scene because for the most part all the fans are girls in their mid teens, so it just made me feel old. But then sometime in January I heard that Block B were to have a comeback and it tugged at me because I had been waiting for them to finally release something. As I’ve lived here, I’ve noticed that B1A4, has received A LOT of awards as rookies and they debuted at the same time as BLOCK B. Block B has still to be nominated for a lot of these same rookie awards. Anyways, these kinds of things just made me sad and brought up my determination to support them even more when they made their comeback.
When their teaser was revealed, the response from the people here was actually AMAZING. It filled me with soo much pride and happiness and in my head I thought, “they are finally going to get more popular!!!” They released their song and MV and it got chaotic here because people LOVED IT. In just a couple of days, they got thousands of new fans join their fan club on daum. They topped a lot of charts for a while and till now 싱크로율 100% is still in the top 20’s of most charts. This just made me ECSTATIC!! I mean they FINALLY got a break and their song wasn’t cut on music stations and EVERYTHING was PERFECT.
Then the interview happened and then it all went spiraling downwards. At that point I just refused to look at the comments by the Koreans because I was honestly too scared. I’m not even going to talk about the interview because I honestly do believe that even though their intentions may not have been bad, their actions were disappointing. So YES, BLOCK B WAS WRONG AND THEY MADE A HUGE MISTAKE. As a fan, I admit to being to disappointed, BUT it doesn’t make me any less of a fan.
Anyways, the whole point of this post is to address the death threats and more specifically, the suicide petition. WTF?? I didn’t know that such a thing is actually legal!?! WHY? WHY the FUCK would people start this??? This made me RAGE at the inhumanity of it. What’s even more sad is the fact that almost 90% or more of the people that signed that FUCKED up petition have based their useless hatred off of one article at most, and that article is also most probably wrong and extremely subjective!
The thing is, I FREAKING LIVE IN KOREA. I get on the subway and look around at the people and ask myself, “could he/she have been one of the people that signed it?” I can’t help but shiver with fright sometimes at how COLD and STRANGE the Korean culture is. I thought I’d understood everything there was to it but seriously I can’t seem to get a handle of it at all. I get scared of posting in Korean on any Korean website, on the chances that a netizen will misconstrue it and my life will then be threatened and such BULLSHIT. I asked my friend about WHY people would write such hateful comments online and she goes, “Because of the anonymity the Internet provides.” In Korean culture, there is a proper way to do EVERYTHING. There is the proper way of bowing. There is the proper way to greet friends your age, proper way to greet friends older than you, correct way to greet your parents and professors and seniors and whatnot. Then there’s the proper way of behaving on the subways. There’s also the proper way of behaving when eating, when talking, when laughing….the list goes on. I.E. THERE IS A PROPER AND CORRECT WAY OF DOING OF EVERYTHING IN THIS CULTURE. Because of all this restriction in their society, people want to unleash their frustrations someway and voila, there comes the internet.
THEY GET FUCKING VICIOUS WHEN THEY GET ON THE INTERNET. People need to realize that the internet connection in Korea IS THE FASTEST IN THE WORLD. Hence, things get blown out of proportion every fucking time. I had hoped that when this controversy began that the next scandal that would come along would just let this die down but NO. It just FUCKING WENT ON AND ON!!
I don’t know how to live here anymore after this whole issue. I’m disgusted by it and now every time I leave the house, I am on my guard looking at people and debating if they turn into ugly monsters in front of their computer screens.
Korea needs change and I don’t know what it’s going to take but something needs to change. This place is so lovely and if only the society got better, then I would love it so much more. But till then, I feel like I’m just going to live in some sort of fear :(

HOLY SHIT!! Actually alot of people in Korea have been speculating on who exactly this anonymous girl is and what she was referring to...I for one am CURIOUS as hell!
Everything was going so well with their comeback and this fuckery had to start! They gained a SHITLOAD of fans this round and their stages were not cut and they placed high on music charts…then … ;(
It’s like someone is out to get Block B out of the industry …they must freaking pose a threat because that’s the only reasonable excuse for all this shit that keeps on happening to them. Mind you, I was disappointed in their interview …BUT they surely DON’T deserve this backlash??
All I know is if they disband, I will STOP listening to KPOP!
